RETURN TO GLORY

Once ranked the #1 public course in Minnesota by Golf Digest, The Wilds Golf Club has long been a Twin Cities favorite. However, after years of steady operation, it was time to breathe new life into this storied course and introduce it to a new generation of golfers. Under the leadership of Thompson Golf Management, The Wilds is making a return to glory, blending its rich history with modern enhancements. A full bunker renovation project, set for completion by 2025, will restore championship-level course conditions, while the addition of GPS technology in all carts will elevate the player experience. Expanded junior programs, enhanced instructional offerings, and new public events—ranging from couples’ outings to national influencer tournaments—are designed to engage golfers of all ages and skill levels.

With these strategic improvements, The Wilds Golf Club is reclaiming its status as one of Minnesota’s premier golf destinations, blending its rich history with a modern, forward-thinking approach that engages golfers and event planners alike.

Challenges:

  • Declining recognition and strategic partners, despite once being Minnesota’s top public course.
  • Limited engagement with the next generation of golfers.
  • A decline in public and club-sponsored golf events, reducing golfer engagement.
  • Weddings and corporate events were not being consistently marketed, leading to fewer bookings.
  • Lack of a strong social media presence for a course of this caliber.
  • Inconsistent email communication with the customer database, missing opportunities to drive revenue and event bookings.

TGM Responses:

  • Will position The Wilds for a return to glory with investments in course conditions and guest experience.
  • Introduce GPS technology to all carts for a modernized playing experience.
  • Reestablish club-sponsored events, including couples’ nights, parent-child tournaments, and influencer invitationals.
  • Implement a renewed focus on weddings and corporate events, working to restore The Wilds as a premier venue.
  • Expand the junior golf programs and instructional offerings to welcome players of all skill levels.
  • Update the website and enhanced digital marketing efforts to reach golfers and event planners more effectively.
